Julio Ruiz is back in the UK! After a multitude of requests from the public - prompted by his last performances in Liverpool and Manchester, finally our calendars coincide! Julio is again joined by the fantastic cantaor (flamenco singer) Cristo Heredía and the guitarist David de Ana.

'Moradas' is the first album by flamenco guitarist and composer Carlos Van Tongeren. This project started in 2019 when Carlos moved to Manchester, after living and working in the Netherlands, Spain and elsewhere in Europe. He has dedicated his life to flamenco and has spent extended periods in Andalusia to work and study with some of the best guitarists and performers.

Flamenco from Granada, Jerez, Almeria, enchanting and passionate performances from flamenco greats - Cristina Aguilera, Miguel Lavi and David Caro.

International flamenco star from Granada, Cristina Aguilera (bailaora), an easy name to remember! In her dance, Cristina presents ‘drama and lyricism, but also the raw energy and precision that preserve traditional flamenco within a contemporary context.’ Dance Magazine.

Cristina’s team showcases the best of flamenco music and tradition, with the great cantaor (flamenco singer) from Jerez Miguel Lavi, in constant demand at international festivals worldwide for his passionate and rhythmic approach to pure flamenco song. They are accompanied by the guitarist David Caro from Almeria, a young soloist and teacher in his own right, and a complimentary part of the team with the beauty and brilliance of his playing. He is much in demand by singers and dancers alike for his lyrical composition and wide range of musical expression.

Cristina presents two evenings of music and dance with drama and lyricism, but also the raw energy and precision that preserve traditional flamenco within a contemporary context. She is a powerful performer, with the strength and rhythm of her feet as well as beauty and expression of her hands and movements. A charming and mischievous personality as well as an accomplished prize-winning dancer who has presented her own shows at international festivals.

Magdalena Mannion - Flamenco Trio

Magdalena Mannion’s ‘Flamenco Trio’ , where dance, piano and voice travel together through a vibrant and elegant repertoire of traditional flamenco with a twist.

Magdalena is a beautiful dancer of great expression and charm, with a more contemporary approach to flamenco. As well as a solo dancer in her own right, she dances alongside flamenco maestros Manuel Liñan and Alfonso Losa and tours with Rafaela Carrasco’s company, presenting prize winning shows at international festivals.

For this show, Magdalena brings national award-winning flamenco pianist Alfonso Aroca, who is a great musician and composer from Cordoba and compliments her style beautifully. They are accompanied by the traditional flamenco song that is a key part of flamenco music, with the cantaora (singer) Elena Morales, also from Cordoba. The trio originally performed together in Madrid's tablao Café de Chinitas.

At the top of these two legendary and traditional churches of Jerez, the feeling of its neighbourhoods and the heartbeat of its people ring out every day. Two flamenco neighbourhoods without borders, with unique and charismatic personalities that captivate with their truth, their naturalness, their art. Santiago and San Miguel! San Miguel and Santiago! They sing and dance ‘bulerías’ with the sound of their bells. Bronze chimes that flutter across the rooftops and slip through the windows of the houses and the hearts of its people.

Andrés Peña

An evening of spectacular flamenco entertainment with some of the finest flamenco performers from the heart of Andalucía – Jerez, Cádiz and Seville. Espíritu Flamenco will present an evening of traditional flamenco music, song and dance, with dancer and choreographer Andrés Peña, cantaor (singer) Miguel Rosendo and guitarist Miguel Pérez.

These three incredible and award-winning international artists return to perform in Liverpool, with Andrés Peña directing another evening of sensational flamenco inspired by the flamenco tradition of his home city Jerez, taking you into a world about which they are hugely passionate, and it shows!

The performance will last approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

Manchester Guitar Festival 2023, Espíritu Flamenco presents Miguel Pérez

Espíritu Flamenco will present an evening of traditional flamenco music, song and dance, with guitarist Miguel Pérez, dancer and choreographer Andrés Peña and cantaor (singer) Miguel Rosendo. 

This concert is part of the Manchester Guitar Festival 2023. Bookers for this concert will also get access to the Saturday day ticket events including a flamenco workshop for guitarists led by Miguel Pérez.


Flamenco shows with Julio Ruiz in Manchester and Liverpool!

Julio Ruiz - flamenco dancer and artistic director, presented two shows in Manchester and Liverpool in October 2022. Julio, finalist at the prestigious ‘Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas’ competition 2022 brought two outstanding musicians - singer Cristo Heredia and guitarist José Manuel Martínez, “El Pelirrojo”. A rare opportunity to attend an intimate performance with some of the most respected flamenco maestros in the world. Andrés Peña, Miguel Rosendo and Miguel Perez will present a performance including solo guitar; guitar and cante (flamenco song); and guitar, cante and dance, followed by the opportunity to ask questions about the music and the performance in a relaxed setting. Presented in Spanish, translated in English. Restricted capacity (70% of previous shows)

 From professional shows to private events and parties, get in touch to book some traditional live flamenco!  Dancers, guitarists, singers, percussionists join to bring traditional styles ranging from drama to fiesta, from Granada to Sevilla to Cadiz.

Working with project partners, Sarah has brought professional performers to Manchester and hosted events in Didsbury, Instituto Cervantes, Hotel Melia and various festivals across Greater Manchester.  Her groups have performed at Manchester International Festival, Festijar Manchester, Didsbury Arts Festival, Goosfest, G Fest, Leeds Flamenco Festival and many private and community events in the area.
